Lucy Cotter, LMFT

Lucy Cotter, MFT, is co-founder of Narrative Counseling Center, which offers narrative therapy to couples, individuals, and families, narrative training, and supervision. She engages decades of experience as an artist and narrative therapist to help people gain freedom from old stories and realize solutions for their lives, work, and relationships. With warmth and curiosity, Lucy brings a keen awareness of social justice and holds space for the world’s complexity. She has an MA in Child/Marriage Counseling from Pacific Oaks College and an MFA from Otis College of Art. As an Adjunct Faculty member at Antioch University, some of her courses include Couples Counseling, Postmodern Psychotherapies, Existential Psychology, and Issues of Aging. Lucy has taught Narrative Therapy in the Postmodern Therapy Program at Phillips Graduate Institute and has been an Adjunct faculty member at Pacific Oaks College. As a postmodern psychotherapist, she has worked in various settings, including the AIDS Service Center in Pasadena. Lucy often works with creative clients such as artists, writers, musicians, and actors. She is practiced at building teams and facilitating dialogues with families and in professional settings, and she brings a collaborative approach to psychotherapy at the Narrative Counseling Center.
