Tanya Barr, M.A., is enthusiastic about joining the team at the Narrative Counseling Center. She specializes in working with individuals, couples, adolescents, children, and families. Through humor, curiosity, empathy, and warmth, Tanya supports clients to feel comfortable and know that they are welcome. Dedicated to an action-oriented approach, she explores past dominant narratives and assists in co-creating preferred ways of being that are orientated towards expansion and growth. Tanya has had intensive trauma training with children, adolescents, and their adult caregivers through Hathaway Sycamores Child and Family Services. A sex-positive, LGBTQIA, kink and poly affirmative therapist, she welcomes clients that are seeking their voice, clarity, and a renewed sense of purpose. Having her own professional pathway that includes nearly two decades in entertainment and fine arts, Tanya has an intimate understanding of the rewards, opportunities, and challenges in forging creative, independent pathways. Tanya graduated with her M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University with a focus in Applied Community Psychology. She works under the supervision of Lucy Cotter and can be reached at (646) 408-5766 or tanyabarrtherapy@gmail.com.
